Eyes in the Dark was founded pretty soon after I started playing LOTRO.  I became tired of people inviting me to their guilds without any real introduction or whatever.  If I join a guild, I intend to have played alongside these people for a while and gotten to know them first.  Part of the reasoning of that is, if a guild refuses to work nicely with the community outside itself, then I really don't want to be a part of it anyway. =)  I've had a few friends in and out of it but only because they also didn't want to be in a 'real' guild at the time.  I've carried the name with me through other games along with a few other guild names.  The origin of the name itself is a Star Trek: TNG episode where Troi keeps hearing a voice saying "Eyes in the dark, one moon circles" (meaning a hydrogen atom but that wasn't clear until late in the episode).  Always though it sounded neat and ominous so it made a good guild name.  ^_^

Anyone you see out in WvW with EYES is almost definitely me.  I am raising 8 characters so that I get to know each class as well as I can, strengths, weaknesses, etc.  Plus I just enjoy having a full complement of chars.  Most likely Elerene Ostinato will be my main out in WvW when I'm done leveling the rest.  We'll see.
